I explore the unspeakable things in my world, in yours, in our community, in our countries and in the world as a whole. Things that the spoken language cannot always explain. Things that are too difficult to maybe talk about out loud.

I grew up in a colonial country in a black body.
I grew up among endless political conflicts since our “independence” in 1962.
I grew up in a society that was culturally and spiritually neglected.
My generation was given the task to bridge this distorted past with the digital present.
And as a contemporary artist I find myself creating across that bridge.

My work focusses on the interplay of internal and external experiences, that connect the physical body with the psychological world. This translates to a rhythmical communication.

I explore the emotional impact of these rhythms and how they create narratives on a personal and interpersonal level. My work is aimed at sharing experiences with myself and others and to explore that connection on a sensual and sensory level as I believe that all art is created beyond the limits of one’s physical body. Reshaping rhythms allows for new cognitive and emotional relationships defining how we see our ourselves, our country and our world.

A regenerative arts practice, for me, links post-colonialism to environmentalism. Reconnecting with humans as ‘a global species’ means reconnecting with the co-natural elements with which we share the planet. And understanding the plant itself as a giant, interrelated ecosystem. A regenerative practice moves away from exploitative relationships on every level.

My work explores the past, present and future to release ourselves from the narratives that have imprisoned and enslaved us. I want to rediscover our spiritual core so our community may feel free, refreshed, and exhilarated! I want to create stories that open up new perspectives on our world, our emotions and our possible futures. I want to regenerate my community.
