In his poem To the Joy, Friedrich Schiller relates his manageable Weimar world to the great conditions in the world. Based on his lines Let’s see the great things of all times / On the boards that signify the world, Christoph Winkler and Robert Ssempijja question the relationship between African dance and western, contemporary dance in their joint work.

Robert Ssempijja brings symbolically floorboards of the only Dance studio in Kampala for contemporary dance to Berlin. These boards are a symbol of the identity of Uganda’s dance scene. Moving to Berlin also brings with them all the ideas that have been designed on them, placing them in a new context. Who owns THE BOARDS THAT MEAN THE WORLD, what is being played on and whose world is there talked about?

With Friedrich Schiller, the fascination with the unknown of the wide world goes hand in hand with the satisfaction of one’s own situation. A mental constellation that can be transferred to our present situation. We would like to argue for more participation and would correct post-colonial effects, but this would mean that your own situation must change as well. If you look at the western dance, it quickly becomes clear that its aesthetics have a white background of experience. From this develop preferences for certain body concepts that shape our idea of contemporary dance. This creates a cultural dominance that is less noticeable to us but not for young African choreographers like Robert Ssempijja. During the performance, the floorboards from Kampala are reassembled little by little and give the performer the opportunity to tell in dances and stories about the exchange between the two worlds.

  1. I have really learned newer and more effective things out of your blog post. Also a thing to I have recognized is that in many instances, FSBO sellers will probably reject a person. Remember, they will prefer to never use your solutions. But if you actually maintain a comfortable, professional partnership, offering support and staying in contact for around four to five weeks, you will usually be capable to win a business interview. From there, a house listing follows. Thanks

  2. I believe this is one of the such a lot significant info for me. And i’m satisfied studying your article. But should statement on few general issues, The site taste is ideal, the articles is truly nice : D. Excellent activity, cheers

  3. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

  4. I’m impressed, I have to say. Actually hardly ever do I encounter a blog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you might have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the issue is one thing that not sufficient persons are talking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled throughout this in my seek for something regarding this.

  5. *There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment?s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
